BIOGRAPHY Born in London to Jamaican parents, Maxi Priest is one of the most successful, popular and recognizable reggae artists worldwide. In fact, he is the most successful reggae solo artist in the world, second only to legend Bob Marley. He is one of only two British reggae acts to have an American Billboard number one: "Close to You" in 1990. A duet with Roberta Flack, "Set the Night to Music", reached the American Top Ten in 1991.
