MUNGAL PATASAR

The world's cultures and music convene in the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Exotic Indian melodies, dynamic African rhythms, influences of Europe, American jazz and native Caribbean genres of reggae and calypso all resonate in the unique sound of Mungal Patasar.

Mungal Patasar leads an eclectic ensemble with the sitar; the steel drums and tabla are also featured among the other instruments in the group. The group has performed on several international jazz and world beat festivals including the Montreaux Jazz festival.
